Long Time No Blogging

So, now that I have probably lost all of my "loyal" readers, I am able to come back and blog more often. Tonight however I need to finish sewing a shirt for myself so I can wear it to Worship Service in the morning! Then I will be updating my blog on what has been keeping me so busy lately, and include as many pictures as I can for it as well!

Out with the Old

This past week at work has been a lot of new things for me. A new group to work with, a new room to work in, two new co-teachers to work with closely, a new shift, and a new set of responsibilites due to that shift. Oh, and a new time to be getting up as a result of the new shift. I am now starting work at 7:15 AM. I used to get up at that time for the past year with having all later shifts!

My body will probably get used to the new time of getting up (which is 5:00 AM), but for now it is rebelling. It is a big struggle to get up and not hit the SNOOZE button and crawl back into bed for a few more ZZZZ's. And yes, I am going to bed much earlier than I was before, usually I am dog-tired by 9:30 PM and head for bed then!

And yes, there are children at the Centre who arrive at 7:00 AM, which is when we open, so they have much the same schedule as I do for getting up because a lot of them also have the public transit system as their means of getting places.

Long Time, No Blogging

Well, the summer is nearly over and many of the children at the centre are preparing to start school. Our kindergarten children are going to be leaving our program at the end of the week as they go into Grade 1 and another childcare program at the YMCA.

This year is especially hard on me because in two days time I will be saying goodbye to the child with special needs that I have been working with one-on-one for the past year and a half. I know that they all grow and have changes in their lives, but I also know that I am going to miss that child very much!

Finally Tackled It

After wanting to try to make some tote bags for our congregation's clothing giveaway, I finally got up the courage to try a prototype. This was the result! I am actually pretty happy with it, although I realizd while sewing that a different order of seams was necessary, so tomorrow night I will work on that!

A "Garfield" Day

Okay, some may automatically understand about the worst day possible according to Garfield. It is Monday the 13th!! I like to consider myself to be not overly superstitious, but in this one case, I must agree, Monday the 13th has a tendency to be "horrible, terrible, no-good, very bad day (I think I'll move to Australia!)"

The only things at work that made me think about this were that one of my co-workers didn't come in until noon because her father is so sick in the hospital, that our substitute was absent today, that I learned that two of my darlings in my group have their last days at the daycare this week, and that my special little friend has continued to use his profanity - louding proclaiming it as we walked in public to and from the library. But that's all that made me think of it! ;-)

Since I had such a hard day, and needed to do some grocery shopping, I took myself out for a light supper at Boston Pizza and with the number of people there one might imagine that they all had "Garfield Days" too!

The Week!

Well, this past week has been something out of a suspenseful fairytale for me. One week ago, my family met my boyfriend, and all seemed to go well (or so I hope). Monday I did things around the house since it was a day off from work with being the long weekend and I had been so busy all the rest of the weekend with my family!

Tuesday I arrive at work and discover that my co-teacher is sick with the virus that has been going around our centre all summer. As the week progresses she is only there one day, Thursday, and she was still so sick that she really should not have been there. And of course, since she is away all week, my one-on-one child with special needs is there all week, and in a terrible mood. I had a different staff member with me for the three days my co-teacher was away, and it was quite stressful because she does not know my special friend very well and that child quickly overwhelmed her.

We did get communication working between the two of us so we could effectively work with the children, but I was so exhausted by the end of every day! I hope my co-teacher is feeling much better on Monday and is at work this next week, because she has a week of holidays coming up the following week. *sigh* And I can just see my special friend being there that whole week of my co-teacher's holidays and in a terrible mood still!

I do love my work, and the children I work with. I just get stressed out at times and need to vent about it!

Sunny Sunday

Well, here it is, another Sunday blog from me! Again, Selena, Curtis, Nora, Levi and myself went for lunch and shopping since there were a few things that needed to be purchased. It is so much fun to spend time with those four people, and little Nora especially as she is so interested in everything in the stores! While Selena was getting some fabric, Nora and I went and 'browsed' the yarn aisle. She really liked all the fashion yarn on the shelves, and I looked at the prices and thought 'maybe later'. But then, in the middle of the main aisle there was a bin with similar yarn in the bags for $5.00. So I asked Nora about color, which one she liked, and she also had to ask her Mom what color would go with her winter coat. So I bought some yarn that is fashion yarn enough for the amount of time she will use the scarf and will get some other yarns for a fancy scarf in a few years.

I found a few good deals for some things as well, and feel that it was a good day overall. And now back to my regularly scheduled crafting! ;-)
