Waxing Nostalgic!

Last weekend, I was able to borrow the DVD sets of the first two seasons of 'Airwolf', a show that ran from 1984 to 1987, with two different set of cast members, but all seasons, and shows, revolving around a helicopter. Well, not just any helicopter, as those who are familiar with the show know. I have been enjoying the shows I have watched so far, and have noticed that one of the sounds (effects) that I still thrill to is the "howl" that the helicopter makes with some of the aerobactic moves it makes. This show was also a bone of contention between my parents and I as they did not think it was a terribly appropriate show for a girl of my age to be watching, but I loved it none-the-less!

Also last weekend, my Aunt gave out copies of a video, now on DVD, that was made Christmas of 1987 of our family's Christmas that year. It was a great trip down memory lane, and made me pause to think of all that has happened in the past 21 years! Definitely helps me look forward to the family reunion we are planning for the summer!

So *THIS* is Spring???

So, we are technically in the spring season, right? Well, this is what it looks like from outside my balcony door after over 12 hours of snowfall. My bus ride this morning took 70 minutes to get to work, and this afternoon it took 55 minutes! The usual ride time is about 25 minutes each way!

No, the picture on the bottom is not fuzzy, that's the snow still falling! And the snow pile on the balcony railing is ALL from this storm system as the railing was completely clear from all the warm weather we had been having!

*sigh* So it looks like we will be waiting a little longer for spring to actually be here!

Talk like My Dad, then Talk Like Me

Well, I did it again the other day - I sounded like my Dad. Only this time it was to two 5 year old boys as I walked them to their school for afternoon classes.

The one boy noticed a "rainbow" in the water puddle as we were crossing it, and stopped to look at it. He of course asked me why there was a rainbow in the water. So I replied:
"Well, you see, the cars leave gas and oils on the snow and as the snow starts to melt the gas and oils stay on top of the water, making it look like there's a rainbow there!"

The one little boy didn't believe me and drew out a long, disbelieving, "Noooo"!

So I then said, "Or it could be that a leprechaun took a bath in the water puddle and left a rainbow behind to let us know he was there!"

The boy then believed the actual scientific answer - go figure!

Stacy and Grant

On a windy, chilly, January day (January 24, 2009), Stacy and Grant said their "I Do's". The day went perfectly, without anything out of the ordinary or not planned for happening. The weather was chilly, but that's January weather in Winnipeg.

Many friends and family were able to come and be a part of their day.

Congratulations Stacy and Grant!

Start of a New Year, Memories of Christmas!

This year we all, meaning Mom, Dad, myself, Selena, Curtis, Nora, Levi, Stacy, Grant, and Curtis's parents Lorne and Elinor, spent Christmas together at Selena and Curtis's house. It worked out really well for all involved as Mom and Dad stayed with Stacy and I which meant that we had a ride out to Mitchell with them as Grant needed the Escort to get to and from work even over Christmas and Boxing Day. Nora and Levi slept in their own beds, and Lorne and Elinor stayed with Curtis and Selena.
The weather cooperated enough to allow for better winter driving, and for some of the group to go ice skating one afternoon!
There was much food involved with the three days we were out at Selena and Curtis's house, as well as many different games played: Cribbage, Trivial Pursuit x 2, Trump Trash x2, Rook, Playdoh (hey, it is a game to a two year old!), and Disney Princess Bingo & Checkers & Dominoes & Tic Tac Toe! Oh, and the DVD version and the handheld game version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
A fun time was had by all, and I feel so blessed to have a family that spends our times together making good memories, laughing, and just having fun!

It's Getting Closer!

Well, I am exhausted from work! Thank goodness I took the bus that first takes the other route before heading down my street! I woke up when I was nearly to the mall where the bus changes what route it goes on! I would have slept right past my stop if I had taken my regular route! Plus at -35 degrees, I wasn't waiting outside for the bus for my route when I could hop on that one! Okay, my "intention" was to get off at a stop close to my house along the section that both bus routes travel and then hop on the next one for my route, but that didnt' happen. I guess that's what you get when you leave your house at 6:08 AM to catch the bus to work (which didn't arrive until 6:20 AM instead of 6:10 AM - grrrrr) and work with preschoolers who are absolutely hyped up on the fact that it is almost time for Santa Claus and Christmas!!!

As for me, I feel like I am scrambling to get everything done with working, preparing for Christmas, and trying to get other things accomplished at the same time! Augh! A co-worker asked for 12 more sets of dishcloths, 6 sets of were of a color that I have here, but didn't have them crocheted, I am trying to sew up two things for Nora and Levi, and I have the usual house stuff as well! And this year I am excited about having to clean my house (yes, you read that right, excited) because Mom and Dad are staying here (which is why I have to clean my, well technically apartment). Selena and Curtis are 'hosting' Christmas festivities, and Curtis's parents are coming from Saskatchewan as well, so it will be a full house, but also alot of fun times!

At least I work 7-3:30 tomorrow and then don't head back to work until Monday December 29th! Other people I know are off until January 5th after working tomorrow, but they will remain nameless! ;-)

Anyways, I wish you all a Merry Christmas as this will likely be the last post until after Christmas Day!

Last Craft Sale

Well, this past weekend I had my last craft sale of the year! It was held at The Bay in Downtown Winnipeg here and it went pretty well. I sold more dishcloths at this sale than I did at the other sales, but that was all I sold. I did however, get a custom order for a queen-sized blanket, and gave my name and phone number to two other people who were interested in a blanket in the near future. It will be interesting to see if they do call me and order a blanket.

Other than that, work is going okay, keeps me busy and on my toes. I had three days of vacation time last week (on Mon, Tues, Wed), and the children were very happy to see me back on the Thursday.

I am, as always, looking forward to the Christmas holidays and the time that I will be spending with my family!
