Hmmm, having been an avid reader for much of my younger life, and part of my "older" life, ;-), I have plenty of books to choose from. I, of course, love reading the Bible, but that is a compilation of books that form the basis of my faith and my life.
I would have to say that my favourite fiction book is 'The Blue Castle' by L. M. Montgomery. What I like about this book is that it is about being yourself, and doing what makes you happy and feel productive, and not doing what your peers think you should do, or want you to do, and in the case of the main character, her peers were her family, but the same idea works for family and peers.

I also love that book. I think what I like is that Valancy lived in her head and then got tired of it and lived the life she wanted, not the life that her family expected of her. I also like how offended her mother was.
