Well, the other day when I was bussing (using Public Transit) the kindergarten children to school due to the extreme windchill factor, I saw something that has stuck in my brain and getting settled into a few "profound" thoughts. Yeah, as profound as I tend to get, so hang on!
This one child exited from the back of the bus after a few other passengers and her father was behind her. Well, the doors closed and she was on the sidewalk and he was on the bus. The bus had not started to pull away because passengers were still getting on at the front of the bus, but the girl started to scream, "Daddy, Daddy!!" And she ran for the front of the bus to get back on! The Dad headed to the front of the bus from the inside and the two were reunited and they actually ended up following me and the children into the school.
And it got me thinking. When sin separates us from God, our Heavenly Father, what is our reaction? Do we scream spiritually for our Father? Do we try to find our way to Him again? Or do we wait for God to come to us?
I know what I do, and I know what I should do! Now to make the two the same !

Just Because
Well, when I set out to do the 30 days of blogging, I really did not understand what I was getting myself into! My schedule is fairly hectic, for a single person, with full-time work, part-time respite work, working on school courses, crafting, the occasional forays into writing, Church activities in addition to regular Church services that I go to, and what ever else life throws at me! And there were days when I wanted to just NOT blog that day! I mean, especially Wednesdays when I get done daycare work and have an hour from when I get done until I have to leave for respite, and then get back home after 10:00 pm and am just beat! But I still blogged! And I am proud of myself for sticking with it, and hopefully my posts gave everyone a few more insights on who I am and what makes me tick!

Day 30 - A Dream for the Future
I think that my dream for the future would be to be like my Grandmothers and my Mother. And so much of what these women are to me can be summed up in the "remembrance" piece that I wrote - paraphrasing I Corinthians 13 - when my Grandma Bell passed away. And because this would be my dream of what kind of a woman to be, I am going to put in "she" where I had written "Grandma" for those who had heard it before.
Her I Corinthians 13
And now I will tell you of the most excellent woman.
If she had spare time it was filled with volunteering somewhere or making things for others. If she was ever upset over harmful actions of others, no one ever knew. If she ever felt any pain for any reason she would underplay it or just not let it out for others to see.
She was patient; she was kind. She did not envy; she did not boast; she was not proud. She was not rude; she was not self-seeking; she was not easily angered; she did not keep a record of wrongs. She did not delight in evil, but rejoiced with the truth. She always protected, always kept busy, always hoped, always persevered.
She never stopped. Where there were craft supplies, she made a variety of things for people to wear or use. Where there was spare time she spent it working with and for others. Where there was someone in need she lent a hand to help or an ear to listen. She knew so many people through her volunteering. Wherever she went she met so many people who had been touched by her life.
When I was a child there were so many "she things" that seemed to be all about me. When I grew up I realized that her special gift was noticing what people preferred and ensuring that was what they received as long as it was in her power to give.
Now we have a chance to honour this special woman who taught so much about life in such a quiet "teaching-by-example" way. Now I see what she has done for so many people by looking to what others needed and not what she needed.
And now these three remain: perseverance, being productive, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Day 29 - Hopes, Dreams for Next 365 Days
Well, now I get to talk about my hopes, and dreams, and goals for the next 365 days. Obviously one goal is to finish my Early Childhood Educator Level 2 training. I have 2 courses and 2 practical skills assessment periods left until that goal is realized.
I also hope to be able to begin a walking regimen that allows me to train to do the Manitoba Marathon's 10 km Walk in less time than I did it last year. And hopefully as a result of the training I do get in better shape and a smaller size! ;-)
A dream of mine is to be able to finish writing one of my current in work pieces of fiction. I'm not talking about a short story either! A full-length novel, written by me, and has been in the works for a while. I just want to get it written, not necessarily published in the next 365 days (do miracles still happen?)!
Those would be the top three goals, hopes, and dreams that I have for the next 365 days!

Day 28 - What's in my Purse?
Well, a woman's purse is usually a mystery, but...
In my purse I have my wallet, my keys, my bus pass, my cell phone, my sunglasses(in a case), a hard cover notebook, a small calendar, a small address book, multivimins, Ultra Tylenol, spare keys to car, nail clippers, about 4 pens, a small notepad, markers and keys for work, Blistex lip ointment, mints, and cough drops. Fairly standard stuff, I think!

Day 27 - My Worst Habit
Okay, so again, no one really likes to tell on themselves what they think is negative about them, or their habits! And normally, I would have said that biting my nails is my worst habit, but after a series of incidences, one of which occurred today I would have to say that my worst habit is procrastinating. I get behind on craft projects simply because I say, "Oh I can work on that tomorrow" and then tomorrow becomes the next tomorrow, and so on. Same thing applies to my writing, and one that reared it's ugly head today - my schoolwork. I took books out of the school library to complete the textbook reading for my course. I phoned to renew those books today, and was told that I could not renew one of them, and if I got the book back tomorrow or Monday I wouldn't have any fines added on. Well, Monday is out because of respite work, so got home tonight, made a quick supper and got straight to reading from that one book. 2.25 hours later, I have the reading and the notes, done. Did I have other things I had planned to do tonight? Definitely! Did I get to do those things yet? Nope! Will I work on not procrastinating? Yep!
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!

Day 26 - My Week
Well, since the post about my day yesterday was to be in great detail, and I tried to keep it short, and yet still was wordy, I decided that I would give detailed highlights of my past week.
Wednesday - Went to work, was asked to take school kids to the school and due to the windchill factor to take them on the bus. Fell while trying to keep the children who also had to stand in the bus safe and hurt my right wrist. Went back to work asking my boss for a tensor bandage and Tylenol. After been looked over by one of the lifeguards, transported to urgent care by my boss, X-rays, and waiting to see a doctor I heard, "Nothing broken, just needs Tylenol and a tensor." Did not make it to respite work that night.
Thursday - Went back to work, wrist wrapped in a tensor bandage, and worked all day. The kids were concerned about me. Took it easy in the evening, which was needed!
Friday - Went to work, wrist still wrapped in a tensor bandage and worked all day. Kids were still concerned about me and showed alot more interest in doing things for me like getting my water bottle if I was thirsty so I could stay put, and carrying swim bags and stuff like that! Again took it easy Friday evening, in and around housework and stuff.
Saturday - Slept in, met Stacy for Sidewalk Sale shopping. Got done with shopping in early evening and then prepared for Sunday school and got purchases put away.
Sunday - Worship Service, lunch with Mom, Dad, Curtis, Nora, Levi, Stacy, and Grant after Church. After getting home tried to get laundry into the machines but people kept getting their stuff in before me and by the time I got mine in, it was not done until well after evening Bible Study had started and so did not attend that night.
Monday - Went to work. Started getting settled in with a new co-teacher for the group because they did a major staffing change for the various groups. I stayed put with my group, no surprise since I have been working with the three year olds for 3.5 years now! Got home had something to eat and then off to respite work.
Tuesday - Over slept but managed to get out of apartment in time to catch a bus to be on time for work. Discussed what to get a co-worker for the baby shower with another co-worker. Decided to purchase something together and ended up finding a really good deal on an ExerSaucer that was even pink (nice because the co-worker's baby is a girl)! Bussed home and took it a little bit easy especially since I was feeling really tired.
Wednesday - Went to work still feeling really groggy and tired. Had a really rough morning, as 15 out of 16 children in my group were having rough mornings and I was with a substitute for the morning! Afternoon went better, but still felt really tired. Slept on the bus ride home and headed off to respite work 10 minutes after getting home. Now back home from the respite work!
It has been a pretty busy week, and a week that has had it's share of injury and general not feeling well. But I keep truckin' on because what else is there to do?

Day 25 - My Day
Well, well, well, what do we have here? A blog post that gives me permission to be wordy! ;-)
But I think I will refrain from giving a minute by minute play by play and give detailed highlights instead. And the start of the day was anything but a highlight! I *thought* that I hit 'Snooze' on my alarm at 6:45 am, but it turns out that I hit 'Off'. Well, 7:28 am rolls around and that is when my body decides that it's time to wake me because I need to be up. Well, I needed to be and at it many minutes before that, but....
I was walking out of my apartment at 7:44 am, and caught an Express bus downtown, which left me just enough time to get a little something to eat and drink before starting work.
Generally the morning at the daycare went well - kids played, they argued, I helped them talk it out, they played some more, my co-teacher came in and we got ready to go to the gym, we went down for lunch, I let other staff go for lunch, I got to go for lunch, and then, nap time was over and we had to get our group ready to go play outside. Well, out of the 13 kids we had in our group this afternoon, 5 did not want to get ready to go outside. By the time it was time to be outside we had 9 kids ready and one (that was ready) got picked up. So I took 8 kids out to the park and my co-teacher, bless her heart, got the rest ready and then outside. Snack was good, and the kids went back to playing when snack was done, and then it was time to be done.
And then, I had to renew my car insurance, and my driver's licence, and then meet another co-worker of mine to get a baby shower gift for a co-worker who had her baby at the beginning of December. We decided to do something a little less conservative, since we were sharing the cost and the item was majorly on sale, and got our co-worker an Exersaucer. Then off to the baby shower, then the bus ride home with two co-workers and the one co-worker's 4 year old daughter (who also went to the baby shower).
Then home, and I hope next on the agenda is homework, well, reading the textbooks, for the course I am working on with school, maybe some crocheting, and then bed at a decent time!

Day 24 - Where I Live
Well, I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is currently living up to it's other name - Winterpeg, Manisnowba. I live in the southeast area of the city in a nice, quiet, 6 floor apartment building.
My apartment is a bachelor(ette) suite and so is one giant room, with the one exception being the bathroom. That does have a door to it!
I have my place set up so my computer desk and crafting table are across from each other with the chair I use at each place in between. My couch runs perpendicular to my computer desk and has a small nightstand being used as a coffee table between it and my entertainment unit. By the wall between the couch and the entertainment unit are two totes of yarn and material.
Going left from the entertainment unit is my balcony door, and then the deep freeze/craft storage area, followed by my bed which lies perpendicular to my kitchen area. As Nora said, rather disdainfully, once, "But Auntie, you sleep in your kitchen!"
It is small, but cozy, and I do have one clothes closet and one storage/coat closet. It took a while to adjust to living here after being in much larger places for so long, but I like it!

Day 22 - A Website
Hmmm, now this one is tough because most of the websites I go to are other people's blogs, or Facebook, or Environment Canada's Weather webstie, or my banking website, and other basic kinds of websites. I had a tough time picking one to share, but I think I will again share the website where my friend, Chris Quilliams, posts his artwork. Most everything he has posted is work he has been commissioned to do, alot of it for RPG book covers and other interior illustrations, but he is a tremendous artist!
http://www.epilogue.net/cgi/database/art/list.pl?gallery=15546
On another quick note, Stacy and I did some shopping today, and even though I do not like clothing shopping, I make a point of doing this shopping once a year. It started out with all three of us girls going for the Sidewalk sales at a couple of malls in the city, but due to a prior commitment Selena was unable to make it this year! She was missed, but I still managed to find 3 shirts, a new pair of runners, a hat, fuzzy socks, and a backpack. All stuff that I needed, and was glad to get on sale!Friday, January 21, 2011
Day 21 - A Recipe
Hmmm, well, since I keep my cooking fairly simple, this one is tough. Although I have several favourite meals, I would have to say that this is one of my absolute favourites!
No-Peek Casserole
1 lb stewing beef (or 2 medium chicken breasts) cut into cubes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can milk
1 drained tin of mushrooms (Pieces and Stems works best)
1 evelope onion soup mix
Mix all ingredients together. Cook for 2.5 hours at 250 degrees F in covered casserole dish. Serve over rice or noodles.

Day 20 - A Hobby of Mine
Okay, after getting off the phone (finally) tonight, I then came to write my blog and I wondered - can talking be a hobby? ;-)
I am fairly sure that what I am going to say is a hobby of mine is not going to be a surprise to anyone who knows me, but I would have to say that crafting - especially crochet - is my hobby. Crochet is my main hobby, but I also like to sew, do cross stitch, and do latch hook rugs. I am considering trying to learn how to knit, but have alot of crafting projects that I want to do, and am working on, and just don't have time to try to pick up knitting yet! (Maybe when I'm all grown up I'll be able to take the time to learn to knit!)

Day 19 - A Talent of Mine
Well, after today's incident, I am beginning to believe that I have a talent for getting injured, but on a more serious note.
I would have to say that I have a talent for fiction writing, although I don't do as much writing as I would like to.

Day 18 - My "Dream" Wedding
Okay, funny that this one should come up just a couple of days after yet another person has asked me, "When are YOU getting married?" My response, as usual, was "Never, at the rate I'm going."
I wouldn't say that I have never thought about being married, and having a big, blowout wedding, but in recent years, the thought of a big, blowout wedding has become less and less intrusive on my thoughts.
IF I were ever to get married, I like to think that I would try to keep it small, but inviting even just my family, and keeping it small is an oxymoron! Not to mention his family and any mutual friends and Church family! I would want it to be tasteful, and elegant, but have humourous elements as well and decorating touches that make it uniquely "ours".
As I get older though, I do think less and less of a wedding, and have at times thought about even just eloping if I were to meet the right man!

Day 16 - A Song that Makes me Cry (or close)
Well, I don't usually cry because of a song. I have come close sometimes, when I am singing a song in Church that was sung at a grandparent's funeral, but other than that I can only think of one song that chokes me up and once, only once, brought me to a couple of tears.
And that song is "Baby Mine" from the Disney movie Dumbo.
But try as I might, I can't get it to link into here. *sigh* For those unfamiliar with the song, I did find a few good clips of this song from the movie on YouTube.

Day 15 - My Dream House
At first, I thought I should talk about how my dream house is a little shack in the middle of the open prairie that when you enter it all you see is nothing. But when you open the closet door and take the elevator down, then.................
But then I thought, nah, that's just way too out there!
So then I thought about being practical and saying that because I am a young, single person that my dream house would be a nice, moderate priced, practical and functional 2 bedroom condo. But then I thought, nah, that's just way too practical!
So, my dream house would be a nice, well-maintained bungalow with a fully finished basement. I would like to have a full bathroom attached to the master bedroom, along with a walk-in closet attached with the full bathroom. I would like to have a well laid out craft room with closet space to hang finished crafts, shelving and drawers for supplies, and plenty of room to work. I would like to have an attached garage, but also want to have a "wraparound" covered porch, so I guess it would wrap 3/4 of the way around and then also have the garage. I would like to have a dishwasher and a garburator in the kitchen as well as plenty of cupboards and counter space to do big things of baking and cooking, as well as plenty of room in the dining area and living room to entertain.
Mind you, I would also like to have other people to regularly share this dream house with, and that is a whole different dream! ;-)

Day 14 - A Non-Fictional Book
I would have to say, that for someone who reads alot, the only kind of non-fictional book that I read, other than school textbooks, is Christian inspirational. And as a result, a non-fictional book that I particulary like is titled,
It really is a lighthearted look at what goes on with life, and gives us the reminder to laugh at those things that go wrong, but also makes us think about how we can use those things that happen to us so that God is glorified and His message is spread.

Day 13 - A Fictional Book
Okay, well I took this to mean a fictional book that I particularly like. And since I already listed my favourite book, and it happens to be a fictional book, I have to now pick another one to tell you about. And so, 'nerd alert', my pick of fictional book (that I particularly like) is "Imzadi".
It is a book from Star Trek: The Next Generation and tells more of the story of Cmdr William Riker and Counsellor Deanna Troi, as well as throwing in an alternate reality and story in that alternate reality. It is really good, in my opinion, but you would have to be a Star Trek:TNG fan to be able to enjoy it, and in some places really understand it.

Day 12 - Something I am OCD about
Okay, truth be told this is a hard one to post. No one wants to really, truly admit that they are Obsessive Compulsive about anything! I will tend to say, when I think something I'm doing is getting out of hand, that my A R (Anal Retentiveness) or my OCD is showing, but I'm half in jest and all in earnest. ;-)
That being said, I would have to say that one thing I am most OCD about is my routine. And not just my get-up-and-go routine, or my home-from-work routine, or the different routines I need to be in on different days due to part-time work two evenings a week, or school, but also when I have decided that my day, say a Saturday, is going to along a certain timeline look out if someone tries to throw a wrench in those plans.
So, my routine, or how I have planned to manage my time to get the most amount of things done, would have to be the one thing I am the MOST OCD about. There are probably many other things I am OCD about, but they are not to the point of this one!

Day 11 - Recent Picture of Me
Well, this would have to be the most recent picture of me as it was taken just this past Christmas! I really don't like many pictures of me, and this one fits into the okay category, but it is the most recent one of me.
This week is turning out to be a very busy week, and I hope that I can keep up the pace necessary to get everything done and everything taken care of!

Day 10 - Picture from 10 or More Year Ago
Well, for the picture that is from 10 or more years ago, I choose one from my Grade 12 year. It was my pre-grad picture and I graduated in 1993, so it is definitely more than 10 years ago! It is one of the few pictures from that time period that I actually like, and therefore it can go on here.
On another note, I would like to ask that those who read this and believe in the power of prayer be praying for my Uncle, Rod Bell, and his family, as he is very ill, in the hospital and needs all the prayers sent God's way as possible! Thank you!

Day 9 - A Photo I Took

Day 8 - Picture That Makes me Sad
I took this picture on this most recent Labour Day Weekend. Stacy, Grant, Dad, and I went out from Weyburn to Lewvan, where we grew up, so that we could see what it looked like now, and so Stacy would be able to show Grant where she grew up. When I saw our old house, the one that I lived in from about 1 year old until I moved out on my own at 19 years old, I nearly cried. I took one relatively okay picture of it, but it just makes me so sad. I have so many good memories of living in that house, and yeah, some not so good memories, but the good memories outweigh the not so good ones by a lot!
It was a very little house, and our family was (of course) Mom, Dad, me, Selena, and Stacy, plus one indoor cat (when I was about 14 this cat became part of the family), and several dozen outdoor cats. We had family visit us, birthday parties, sleepovers, game nights with neighbours, and many other things that happened in that little house.
Mom and Dad did sell the house a few years ago, and this is how the person who bought it has treated it. And that makes me sad.

Day 7 - A Picture that Makes Me Happy
Well, I would have to say that this picture makes me happy for a few reasons. I actually look kinda cute in this picture (and for those who don't know, I'm the older of the two kids here!), and we just all look happy. So many pictures with me in them I don't like, or don't think of as happy pictures, but this one I do think is a happy picture, and when I look at it I feel happy. Not sure why, but I do!
And after the rough day at work I had today, good pictures are really necessary and a blessing that I needed to search through my pictures to find one I considered one that makes me happy.

Day 6 - 20 Favourite Things
Well, originally I thought I would be all arsty and try to put my favourite things to the lyrics of "My Favourite Things" from Sound of Music, but it's been a long day and I'm pretty tired, so I will simply list them, with numbers so that I know I got all 20 listed. These are NOT in order of preference, just a list!

Day 5 - Favourite Quote
Oh boy, here it is again, another chance to choose A favourite of something. And I would have to again say that I don't have just one favourite quote, but two. And both quotes come from movies that I have watched.
The first quote comes from the movie/muscial 'Rent' and it says, "No day but today." The characters in 'Rent' are, for most of the characters, living with AIDS and their choice, summed up in this quote, is to live each day with no regrets, no procrastination, and no long-term future plans but to live, and love, as if each day could be their last.
The second quote comes from one of the Star Wars movies and my favourite little green dude (Yoda for the uninformed) says, "Do, or do not. There is no try." This reminds me that I need to either do a task or not do a task, and ultimately doing the task wins out!

Day 4 - Favourite Book
Hmmm, having been an avid reader for much of my younger life, and part of my "older" life, ;-), I have plenty of books to choose from. I, of course, love reading the Bible, but that is a compilation of books that form the basis of my faith and my life.
I would have to say that my favourite fiction book is 'The Blue Castle' by L. M. Montgomery. What I like about this book is that it is about being yourself, and doing what makes you happy and feel productive, and not doing what your peers think you should do, or want you to do, and in the case of the main character, her peers were her family, but the same idea works for family and peers.

Day 3 - Favourite TV show
So, on to day 3 now and talking about my favourite television program. Well, with how busy I am right now with full-time work, part-time respite work, and completing my schooling to have my training as an Early Childhood Educator Level 2 I have found that TV has taken a back seat to, well, all that! I remember when I was younger I loved the TV show 'Sliders' as well as 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', followed by 'Star Trek: Voyager' a few years later.
Now though, I would have to say that my absolute favourite TV show is 'Bones'. I love the characters in it, as well as being intrigued by the subject matter of finding out "who-done-it" with, usually, just a person's bones left. Yeah, some of the episodes can be high on the "icky-factor" but I still enjoy it and it is the one TV show that I plan to buy the next season of DVD's, and for as long as the show continues try to watch it when I can, and buy the DVD's so I can catch up on last season as well!
And yesterday I learned that both of my sisters (Selena, and Stacy) are now also doing the daily blogging schedule, so I am looking forward to reading those as well and learning how alike and how different our tastes run! ;-)

Day 2
Well, here we are at Day 2 of my blogging experiment! Before I get into my "regularly scheduled blogging" I just want to mention that I have homemade turkey pies cooking in my oven right now, and man does my place smell good!! Yummy!
And now I'm to tell you all about my favourite movie. Well, once again I have difficulty choosing a favourite movie. I can probably name my top 3 again, and for me that is going to have to do because I just seem to have difficulty with picking one ultimate favourite!
I like "Shawshank Redemption" because there are so many great themes, quotes, and attitudes about persevering in spite of great difficulties throughout that movie!
I also like "The Princess Bride" because there are so many great quotes and ideas in that movie, and it is just generally fun!
I would have to say that my all time favourite musical movie is "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" because of the great music, the choreography, and the beautiful shots of the landscape!
Hope all is going well today for all!

Happy New Year!!
Well, I have been pretty much been ignoring any blogging for the past while, maybe my life has become busier or the novelty has worn off and I enjoyed reading other's blogs more, but I have heard of people who decided to jumpstart their blogging with a 30 day Blog Schedule. I read over the list of things on this schedule and decided that it would be a good idea for me to do this as well.
So, here is the schedule for the next 30 days, or until the end of the month:
Day 1-your favourite song
Day 2-your favourite movie
Day 3-your favourite television program
Day 4-your favourite book
Day 5-your favourite quote
Day 6- 20 of my favourite things
Day 7-a photo that makes you happy
Day 8-a photo that makes you angry/sad
Day 9-a photo you took
Day 10-a photo taken over 10 years ago of you
Day 11-a photo of you recently
Day 12-something you are OCD about
Day 13-a fictional book
Day 14-a non-fictional book
Day 15-your dream house
Day 16-a song that makes you cry (or nearly)
Day 17-an art piece (drawing, sculpture, painting, etc.)
Day 18-my wedding/future wedding/past wedding
Day 19-a talent of yours
Day 20-a hobby of yours
Day 21-a recipe
Day 22-a website
Day 23-a YouTube video
Day 24-where I live
Day 25-your day, in great detail
Day 26-your week, in great detail
Day 27-my worst habit
Day 28-what's in my handbag/purse
Day 29-hope, dreams, and plans for the next 365 days
Day 30-a dream for the future
And already I am finding the first day of the schedule hard because I love music so much, and to be able to pick one favourite song is very difficult. I had to go through my songs on my computer and listen to a few that were my top 15 to be able to choose three favourite songs. And these favourite songs I find are in different categories: spiritual, musicals, and rock. And these are my three favourite songs:
Spiritual - Blessed Be Your Name
Musical - Defying Gravity (from 'Wicked')
Rock - Don't Stop Believin' (by Journey)
Each of these songs seem to speak to me in different ways for different aspects of my life, and therefore I simply cannot choose just one favourite song!
Again, Happy New Year, and happy reading!
